Cash for Votes: 2 Arrested

BIRMAHARAJPUR: Birmaharajpur Police arrested a teacher of Birmaharajpur high school, identified as Dayasagar Kalta, and seized Rs 1,00,650 from his possession.However, he has been released on bail. Reports said Sushama Kalta, wife of Dayasagar, is contesting for the post of sarpanch from Kalapathar in Ulunda block of the sub-division which will go to polls on Friday. It is said Dayasagar was carrying the cash to lure voters. His luck ran out after his rivals informed the SP who arrested him. In a separate incident, Birmaharajpur Police arrested a former sarpanch Nandan Barik while he was distributing money on behalf of his niece who is contesting for the sarpanch post from Kotsamalei GP.
