Naveen greeted with black flags

SONEPUR: Unruly scenes were witnessed during the electioneering by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Koirajuli in Ulunda block of the district on Thursday. The Congress workers showed black flags to Naveen during a public meeting which led to a scuffle between supporters of BJD and Congress. While two police officers were injured in the melee that ensued, two Congress workers have been arrested. The Chief Minister was addressing a public gathering when Congress workers led by former Sambalpur University students’ union president Padmanabh Mishra and Congress worker Mahadeep Mahakur waved black flags at him. Soon a scuffle broke out between the Congress workers and the BJD supporters present at the venue. While trying to intervene, Ulunda Police OIC (in-charge) Tapas Kumar Bhoi and Birmaharajpur Police ASI Santosh Gauda were injured in the melee. Police later arrested Mishra and Mahakur. He also addressed a public meeting at Khari in Sonepur block. Balangir MP Kalikesh Singhdeo, Sonepur MLA and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Niranjan Pujari and Birmaharajpur MLA Padmanabh Behera were present.
