BHUBANESWAR: Utkal Bharat, a regional political party, today said Chief Minister Naveen Patniak had no moral right to stay in office after the detection of dal scam.
Naveen is trying to prove his innocence by asking Pramila Malick to resign and initiating action against three IAS officers. He cannot absolve himself of charge as his Government has violated the Orissa High Court and Supreme Court rulings on dal procurement and supply. He should resign on moral ground, Utkal Bharat president Kharavel Swain said in a statement.
Alleging that the BJP is equally responsible for the scam, Swain said the saffron party was a partner of the BJD in the two previous governments. Irregularities in the purchase and supply of dal started from the first innings of the Naveen Patnaik Government. As a coalition partner, the BJP is no less culpable. It is like pot calling the kettle black, he remarked.
Swain said the Vigilance will not be able to go into the bottom of the scam as the entire government machinery is involved in the scandal. He demanded a CBI probe. If the Government did not hand over the case to CBI, his party will approach the Orissa High Court, he cautioned.
Swain further said his party will take the issue to the people and create public movement against the government. |
